Advisory work and advocacy

We provide a full range of advisory and litigation services on instructions from solicitors (including overseas lawyers). We regularly receive instructions from solicitors worldwide, including Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

In addition, members have considerable experience in providing prompt, practical and helpful pre-publication advice to the press, broadcasters and publishing houses. For this purpose we accept direct access at competitive rates.

We also provide advice and representation in cases before the media regulatory bodies, such as Ofcom, the Press Complaints Commission and the Video Appeals Committee.

Members of Chambers are available round the clock, in the evenings and at weekends, to deal with media injunctions and any other urgent matters. Should you require assistance please contact the clerks or call the main Chambers number (020 7353 8845) out of normal hours where you will be re-directed to a clerk.

Members also regularly participate in seminars in our fields of law and are happy to attend at solicitors’ officers to give papers on requested topics.

Fees are considered on a case-by-case basis. Estimates and the hourly rates for each member of Chambers are available on request. Considerations including the time spent, the seniority of the barrister instructed and the complexity of the case affect the overall level of fees charged.

Some members in appropriate cases act under Conditional Fee Agreements in accordance with the relevant legislation. This allows the recovery of a success fee by the barrister and potentially also the insurance premium if applicable. Please contact the clerks for further details.

The clerks are happy to discuss all aspects of fees and funding.

We are able to provide excellent conference facilities in Chambers or, alternatively, conferences can be arranged at solicitors’ offices.
